Sun Dragons

Solux profile pic.png

No one knows how more sun dragons are created, if they are at all. There is a theory that there is a limited number of sun dragons living on Hypatia. If that is true, the eventual extinction of sun dragons could cause unprecedented changes across the whole planet.

Appearance

Sun dragons are nearly impossible to depict, requiring special cameras and protective equipment, due to their bright light radiating from within them. This makes them unique to all other dragons, therefore easily identifiable. They also will have a herd of planet dragons (and sometimes a few moon dragons) surrounding them.

All sun dragons are blind, making themselves immune to their own shining scales. They still have what look like eyes, but those eyes seem to be non-functional. Other dragons that have not evolved eye protection will be effected by the sun dragon's radiance.

There is no data on any possible eggs or young sun dragon hatchlings. There is only data on the death of a sun dragon, thanks to the discovery of Solux.

The Death

When sun dragons approach the end of their lifespan, they become less mobile, preferring to spend time close to the ground. They remain just as bright as ever up until their departure.

When they die, they explode, sending out spores for miles and miles around them.

Determining the Sex

Sun dragons are genderless, so there are no distinctions to be made. â€‹

Genetics

There is no data on pure sun dragons hatchlings. Some say more appear from the sky, but there is no official documentation of such an occurrence.

Reproduction

Breeding

Though we aren't sure how new sun dragons are hatched, we do know their genes live on in many other dragon hybrids, such as rainbow and shadow dragons, blood moon dragons, and more.

When a sun dragon dies, the remaining spores can be consumed by different dragons, creating unusual hybrids. This occurrence is heavily researched, and it is probable that most dragons will eventually consume sun dragon spores and lay a completely new dragon hybrid.

Habitat

Living

Sun dragons will often reside on the tops of mountains, or other high places. Their wings are small so they aren't able to fly at all, but they like to feel as though they were in the sky.

Collections

They "collect" a herd of mostly planet dragons, with the occasional moon dragon thrown in. Their herd finds them, and grows exponentially larger, helping care for their sun dragon leader. Sun dragons are very protective of their herd.

Movement

They spend their whole life in one spot, since their flight and movement is limited by their large size and smaller than normal wings.

Diet

They will eat whatever their herd brings them. They don't need to eat as much as one would expect, given their massive size.
